Welcome to my world of creative design and vibrant imagination! I'm so excited to share my journey with you, from multimedia projects to local itineraries and glimpses of my laid-back lifestyle.
I'm Sara, a 36-year-old Iowa native, and I couldn't do this without the support of my amazing husband, Ian, who matches my wild creative energy every step of the way. We're also proud cat parents to three mischievous boys: Freyer, Druid (aka Dru-Boo), and Haldor, who keep our home lively and full of love. My mom lives with us too, as my sister and I take care of her following the passing of our dad in 2021. We may be a small family, but we have big hearts.
My background is in Graphic Design and Electronic Media Communications, and I've spent years as a part-time freelance Graphic Designer, Photographer, and Videographer. Whether working solo or collaborating with a team, nothing beats the satisfaction of bringing a creative vision to life.
Before diving into full-time design, I worked in hospitality for nine years. Helping visitors explore and connect with the local community became second nature to me, earning me the nickname "Miss Sara" at the hotel. That’s why naming my company Miss Sara Designs LLC felt like the perfect tribute to my roots. I’m forever grateful for the experiences and support that shaped my small business.
Spring and Summer are my favorite seasons to travel across Iowa, meeting clients in their hometowns for photo/videoshoots. I love connecting with small-town communities, learning their stories, and helping them shine. This passion inspired me to create local itineraries and resources to spotlight businesses and help newcomers feel at home.
Outside of work, Ian and I embrace a laid-back lifestyle filled with gardening, canning, thrifting, decorating, and experimenting with new hobbies. I can't wait to share these adventures with you as we learn and grow along the way.
